Cantores Minores and the Musiikkitalo organ present a feast of the finest French Romantic church music. Mass settings composed for the cathedrals of Paris are paired with Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful morning hymn.
Composer-organists Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne were renowned for their magical ability to transform the organ into an orchestra. In the early 20th century, their fame drew curious listeners to Paris from as far away as North America. For their Mass settings, Widor and Vierne wrote parts for two separate organs. These will be performed by Liisa Aaltola, organ artist and cantor of Pirkkala Parish, and Olli Pyylampi, organist of Kallio Parish.
Organized by Musiikkitalon urut ry.
