The Cantores Minores boys’ choir started a new Musica Sacra concert series in spring 2023, with which it wants to maintain the traditions of the church music choir concert.
As a counterbalance to the annual large orchestral works, the choir will perform church music composed for boys’ choir in these Musica Sacra concerts. Music suitable for the topic may also be included, which is not strictly church music. The emphasis is on a cappella music, i.e. works performed without accompaniment. However, the program also includes works with organ accompaniment, for example. In addition, solo organ works will be heard. In the coming years, the program will range from Gregorian chant to contemporary music.
The title of this year’s concert is “European Church Choir Music from the 17th Century to the Present”. The concert will premiere ‘Missa Primordium’, composed for choir by CM choir member Paavo Halonen. In addition, the program will feature choral music by, among others, the following composers: H. Howells, F. Mendelssohn, H. Schütz and J. Sweelinck.
The choir is leaving for a concert tour to the USA next week and this concert will also be the opening concert of the tour.

Come sing in the choir!
Cantores Minores is a traditional boys’ choir and music school, founded in 1952, based in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Each year, nearly 400 children and young people participate in its various choir groups. Cantores Minores offers high-quality music education and training.
Admission to Cantores Minores Music School is through entrance exams, which are held three times a year.

CM Music Play School
The CM Music Play School is a singing-focused music play group for boys aged 3–6. Through singing games, children practice listening to music, discovering their own voice, singing in unison, and exploring the basics of music, including melody, rhythm and harmony.
