Hannu Norjanen

Professor Hannu Norjanen (b. 1964) sang in the Cantores Minores choir himself from 1974 to 1980. He is a versatile Finnish musician who has worked as an organist, choir director and conductor.

He studied at the Sibelius Academy and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, earning a Doctor of Music degree in 2015. Norjanen has conducted several Finnish city orchestras and has also appeared internationally as a guest conductor. He has served as Artistic Director of the Tapiola Chamber Choir since 1998 and has made numerous recordings of Finnish choral music.

Since 2005, he has been the Artistic Director of the Cantores Minores boys’ choir and Principal of the music institute. In 2022, the President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, awarded Hannu Norjanen the honorary title of Professor.
